Our new queue system is designed to make setting up and playing your games every week as easy as possible. This guide is meant to help players and administrators on their first steps through the new system.
*Please disable any adblockers before attempting to join the party lobby or queue. Adblockers are known to prevent players from seeing the queues as the become active. Refreshing the page or opening another browser tab will result in you being removed from the queue lobby.
Selecting a Time to Play
Unlike past seasons, games will not be seeded during the Regular Season, instead teams will be able to choose from multiple days and times to play their match for the week. Each week teams will choose one of the available times and days to play their match for the week.
Queuing for Your Match
Windows for match times will open on your dashboard at the set time listed on the schedule. Once available on the dashboard, players will have the ability to select "Join Party" to be put in their team lobby.
Once all team members are in the lobby, the lobby captain(designated with a joystick next to their name) will be able to select the "Join Queue" button at the top right. Queues will remain open until 16 minutes after their listed time. Once the timer reaches 0, queued teams will be matched against each other.
When a match is found, both teams will be taken to a match page where they can exchange game information, and take care of any game related issues such as map bans. After information is exchanged both teams immediately play their game and the winner of the match will report the match outcome. Once teams have played their match, all other game options for the week will be unavailable.
Solo Player Queues
Players of solo games (Fortnite, Madden, NBA, FIFA, and Hearthstone) will instantly be put into the queue once they select "Join Queue" from their dashboard. Once matched with their opponent they will be taken to a match page like they would in a team game.
Minecraft will not use the queue system during the tournaments. Players will still choose from the available times listed above but will only need to arrive to the HSEL Minecraft server at their chosen time. Please reference our Minecraft Game Settings Page for information on connecting to the server.
What Happens if You were not Matched?
In the rare event that your team was not matched against another, you will be given a bye win. Any team given a bye win this way will be moved into a priority queue for the remainder of the tournament to ensure they're able to participate in their future games.
