We understand that showing up to your match to have no opponent is frustrating. Forfeits have plagued esports leagues all over and it’s time for a solution. Thanks to the wonderful feedback from the HSEL community, we have created our very own queue system that automatically pairs you with another opponent ready to go when you are. No more hassle of trying to schedule a time, or having an opponent be a no-show. You’ll be able to pick from any of the available queue windows convenient to you and be paired up with an opponent who is ready when you are. This should end forfeits as we know them.
WHAT IS THE QUEUE SYSTEM?
Queue systems are standard in traditional online gaming. For example, when you’re ready to play Fortnite, you’ll be added to a lobby and wait for all 100 players to join. Once all players are in the lobby, the match will start.
Our queue system is very similar. The big difference is we offer queue windows for each competition so teachers and teams can be aware of when to have their teams ready. For example, if you play Overwatch and your team is available Wednesdays, you’ll join the 4:00 PM queue window anytime from 4:00 PM until 4:15 PM. At 4:15 PM, all teams in the queue will be assigned their opponent and then you’ll all be automatically sent to a new match page where you can chat with your team and opponent in one place. From there you’ll create the game lobby, play your match, and then come back to the platform to report your score.
No more forfeits, no more rescheduling headaches, no miscommunication, just queue up and play.
Only a single game may be played by each team in any given week. After a team has played their match, the other time options for the current week will become unavailable. If a team runs into an issue where no match can be found for them, they will be given a bye win. This will only happen once per team during their season, maximum. Any team that receives a bye win will be moved into a priority queue to ensure they have matches for the remainder of the season. Please note that due to the nature of our Minecraft tournaments, Minecraft players will not be utilizing the queue system for the Spring Major.

WINDOWS TO MAKE UP MISSED ROUNDS
Sometimes a team has an off week where the team members’ schedules just don’t line up, or maybe someone is sick. If you miss a week, you can make it up during our Round Make-up Windows. There will be two opportunities to make up for missed matches: during Week 4 (4/13 - 4/19) and during Week 8 (5/11 - 5/17). During those weeks, you will be expected to play two matches if you’re making up for a previously missed match. Please note that Make-Up Windows will be at different times and/or dates than the game is normally played.
