In the upcoming weeks We'll be launching a brand new look and updates to the Varsity Esports site. We wanted to give everyone a sneak peak at what we'll be launching very soon. If you have any feedback or questions please post them in the Feedback channel on the HSEL Discord. Please keep in mind, as this is a work in progress some of the features or layouts discussed may change as development continues.
In the new dashboard teams will be able to see how many seats they have open, and how many students are currently using seats. Additionally we have added the ability for teams and students to see their upcoming matches in an easy to read format to better help teams prepare for their games.
We've changed the look and function of the match center. Team administrators will now be able to filter information based on the tournament information they're looking for and the tournament match details of their club rosters. While students will be able to see the tournament information for all tournaments they are currently participating in. For example if a student is enrolled in both an Overwatch and Fortnite roster, they will see information for both tournaments on the same page.
The creation of rosters may look similar, but there are quite a few changes to make it easier for our teachers! For example the “Add Members” field auto fills with student names to speed up adding multiple members at one time and we have also removed the static and dynamic option and replaced it with the following options “1 on 1” and “Team”.
Students can now be made a captain easier (gold star represents who is a captain) and you can add students to rosters from this page. We have also created a brand new feature that lets you “Flag” students. Flagging a student removes them from all rosters and their paid seat (unless they paid for themselves), removing the flag it will re add them to their paid seat and to their roster. We hope the “Flag” feature will help with benching students due to disciplinary actions or if their GPA drops to below your schools standard to be allowed to participate in activities.
With the new pay center we've made it easier for schools to look at their past payment history to help with confirming if and when they bought passes and to help with general club financials. We've also made it easier to add a new payment method and made purchasing a pass more straight forward!
This is just a sneak peak into the upcoming updates and changes that we're making to the front end. More information will be released as we get closer to the full release in the next few weeks. Keep an eye on our discord server and your emails as we will be letting the HSEL community know when the new front end site is live!
